Dr. Poonam Joshi is a Head and Neck Oncosurgeon and thyroid surgeon. She is the first female head and neck surgeon in Navi Mumbai with vast and exclusive experience in Head and Neck Surgery. She has completed her MBBS from reputed King George Medical University in 2005 and MS from MLN Medical College, Allahabad. Thereafter she completed senior residency and then worked as Lecturer in the Department of Head and Neck Oncosurgery at the coveted Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai. She was visiting fellow at Memorial Sloan Kettering Institute, New York under the able guidance of Dr. Jatin Shah. She has worked as the consultant at AIIMS Rishikesh and was actively involved in the management of head and neck cancer treatment and management. She has special interests and expertise in the treatment of benign and malignant tumors in head and neck region which include those in the mouth, Neck, Throat, Larynx (voice box),nose, sinuses, Thyroid, Skull base, Nasopharynx, Salivary Glands as well as tumors of the skin soft tissue and bones. She is experienced in laser surgery of vocal cord and Oral cavity. She has vast experience in reconstruction with local, regional flaps (plastic surgery types). She is well versed with various diagnostic procedures for cancer like Laryngoscopy (examination of voice box with scope), Nasopharyngoscopy (examination of part of pharynx behind the nose), Bronchoscopy (examination of windpipe and lungs), oesophagoscopy (examination of food pipe)and biopsy.She has presented various research papers at National and International conferences and has numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals.
