Dr. Sumit Kumar Gupta has been trained in top ranked Medical Institutes of India. He completed his MBBS from University College of Medical Sciences and associated Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital and MD in Psychiatry from Maulana Azad Medical College and associated Govind Ballabh Pant Hospital (Now renamed as GIPMER). He has more than 11 years of Clinical and Teaching Experience in Psychiatry (Recognized by Medical Council of India) Dr Sumit has served in various capacities as Senior Resident, Consultant and Assistant Professor at the NABH accredited, apex Behavioural and Neurosciences Institute of Delhi - Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences for more than 8 years. Dr. Sumit had special interest in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and had been associated with Child Guidance Clinic throughout this period. He had been Consultant In-Charge of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Ward and Mother & Child Care Unit at IHBAS. He has authored several research papers on Childhood Behavioral Disorders. He is Life Fellow of Indian Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health. He has been actively involved in provided training and guidance for setting-up of In-patient Juvenile De-addiction Services in Delhi Govt. Hospitals, besides training of Medical Officers from Delhi Government Dispensaries. He was selected and successfully completed the CDSA (India)-NIH (USA) Certificate Course on ‘Principles and Practice of Clinical Research’ in 2012. He has authored and presented many research papers in National and International Journals and Conferences, besides authoring chapters in medical books. His research has been cited internationally. He has also been the reviewer for several International Medical Journals. He has keen interest in Community Service and has participated in various Community Awareness Programmes at several Public Places & Schools. He has participated in National Mental Health Programme. He has contributed to reviewing the status of Mental Health Services in India and providing recommendations to the Government of India and State Governments through assistance and inputs to “Techincal Committee on Mental Health” constituted by National Human Rights Commission in response to a PIL in Supreme Court of India. He has been cited by mass media (Television News Channels, Radio and Newspapers) for dispelling the myths surrounding Behavioural Disorders and promoting rational views. He has been appreciated for his services by IHBAS on Doctor’s Day (2017). He has also been recognized several times for his social & humanitarian service by NGOs and Medical Societies.
