Dr. Praveen Mathew is a young and reputed Gastroenterologist based in Bengaluru. He is attached to Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences at Whitefield, where he works as Associate Professor in the Department of Medical Gastroenterology. Here he is part of the team that runs the DM Programme in Medical Gastroenterology. Department of Gastroenterology at Vydehi Hospital has one of the most advanced endoscopic units in South India with dedicated therapeutic endoscopy rooms that perform routine diagnostic procedures to more advanced therapeutic procedures including Enteroscopy and Endoscopic Ultrasound. Dr. Mathew also consults at Mallya Hospital on Vittal Mallya Road. He is also a consultant at Trinity Gastroenterology & Diagnostics, in Kalyan Nagar. Bangalore. After completing his MBBS from JJM Medical College, Davangere and MD in General Medicine from Mysore Medical College, Dr. Mathew completed his DM in Gastroenterology from Seth GS Medical College & KEM Hospital at Mumbai. Here his duties included patient management and decision-making in the elective and acute setting, training of postgraduate students and administrative duties inwards. He was also actively involved in managing patients in ICU with bedside emergency endoscopic procedures. He was also a part of an active interventional radiology team and was involved in the management of Budd Chiari Syndrome managed with Transjugular Intrahepatic Portosystemic Shunts(TIPSS). Dr. Mathew also completed his Fellowship in Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy and Endoscopic Ultrasound from Institute of Advanced Endoscopy, Mumbai, under the able guidance of Dr. Amit Maydeo. Here he was exposed to advanced therapeutic biliary and pancreatic endoscopy. Dr. Mathew is inclined towards research and academics, having contributed towards numerous research papers and poster presentations.
