He is certified in bariatric and single incision laparoscopic surgery by European school of laparoscopic surgery, St. Pierre University, Brussels (Belgium) under the pioneer of bariatric surgery Prof. Guy Bernard Cadiere. Over the years, Dr. Premkumar has been involved in laparoscopic procedures ranging from simple diagnostic laparoscopies to advanced Laparoscopic procedures including Colorectal work, Gastrectomies, Pancreatic Pseudocysts, Adenalectomies, Splenectomies and Bariatric surgery.He is one of the pioneers of Single incision laparoscopy in the country and was the first to perform single incision inguinal hernia repair in the country. He is keenly involved in the teaching and conduct of open, endoscopic and laparoscopic procedures to aspiring surgeons and nurses.
