Alwin Dry Syrup is probably safe to use in patients with kidney disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Alwin Dry Syrup may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.
CAUTION

How to use Alwin Dry Syrup
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Dissolve the powder in sterile water. Shake well and use. Alwin Dry Syrup may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Alwin is an antibiotic. It is an anthelmintic drug and is used in the treatment of many parasitic infections.
Q. What is Alwin used for?
Alwin is used for the treatment of infections caused by helminths (worms) like Enterobius vermicularis (pinworm/threadworm), Ascaris lumbricoides (roundworm), Ancylostoma duodenale and Necator americanus (hookworms), Trichuris trichiura (whipworm), Strongyloides stercoralis, animal hookworm larvae causing cutaneous larva migrans, and Opisthorchis viverrini (liver flukes) and Clonorchis sinensis. It is also indicated for the treatment of Hymenolepis nana and Taenia spp. (tapeworm) infections and has shown good activity against anaerobic protozoa like Giardia lamblia and Trichomonas vaginalis. Please consult your doctor before taking any treatment for worms as there could be many worms against which Alwin would not be effective.
Q. How does Alwin work?
Alwin works by killing the larva and the adult form of the worm by inhibiting tubulin polymerization which causes energy depletion and decreases the mobility of the worm and hence kills the helminth.
Q. Can I take Alwin with fluconazole?
Alwin can be taken with fluconazole. No drug-drug interactions have been reported between the two. However, interactions can occur. Please consult your doctor before taking the two medicines together.
