Bifosa 70mg Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Bifosa 70mg Tablet is probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.If you are taking Bifosa 70mg Tablet during breastfeeding, monitor baby's blood calcium levels during the first two months.
Do not drive unless you are feeling well.Bifosa 70mg Tablet is not expected to have any effects but in rare cases, it may cause dizziness, severe muscle, joint and bone pain and eye pain or inflammation. This may affect your ability to drive.
Bifosa 70mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Bifosa 70mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Dose adjustment is not recommended in patients with mild to moderate kidney disease.
Bifosa 70mg Tablet is probably safe to use in patients with liver disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Bifosa 70mg Tablet may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.
Uses of Bifosa Tablet
Bifosa 70mg Tablet is used in the treatment of osteoporosisThis disease mostly occurs in women after menopause, but can sometimes be seen in men. It can also occur in patients receiving steroids.
How to use Bifosa Tablet
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Bifosa 70mg Tablet is to be taken empty stomach.
How Bifosa Tablet works
Bifosa 70mg Tablet is a bisphosphonate. It acts by suppressing the activity of osteoclasts, cells that cause the destruction of bone, thereby strengthening the bones and minimizing the risk of fractures.
Common Musculoskeletal (bone, muscle or joint) pain, Headache, Heartburn, Difficulty in swallowing.
Expert advice for Bifosa Tablet
Take Bifosa in the morning on an empty stomach with water. Do not eat or drink for 30 minutes after taking Bifosa. Maintain an upright posture for 30 minutes after taking Bifosa. Inform your doctor if you experience pain in jaw, throat, chest, abdomen, hips or thighs. Inform your doctor if you are about to undergo any major dental procedures, as Bifosa may need to be discontinued temporarily.
Q. Is alendronic acid safe/ dangerous/ a biphosphate/ a steroid/ vitamin D?
Alendronic acid belongs to class of medications called bisphosphonates. It is not a steroid or vitamin D. It is safe if used at prescribed doses for the prescribed duration as advised by your doctor
Q. Can I take ibuprofen/ paracetamol with alendronic acid?
Avoid taking alendronic acid with NSAIDs such as ibuprofen and paracetamol as it increases the gastrointestinal related side effects
Q. Does Bifosa affect your teeth?
Bifosa is not known to affect the teeth. However, bone damage in the jaw (osteonecrosis) generally associated with delayed healing and infection is known to occur following tooth extraction
Q. Does alendronic acid contain calcium/ vitamin D?
Alendronic acid does not contain calcium and vitamin D. You doctor may ask to take calcium or vitamin D
Q. Does Bifosa cause cancer/ hair loss/ make you tired/ increase in blood pressure?
Bifosa has a side effect of causing hair loss and tiredness. However, it is not known to cause cancer or increase in blood pressure. Consult your doctor if you experience such side effects.
