Spectra 75mg Capsule may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.

Spectra 75mg Capsule is probably unsafe to use during lactation. \nLimited human data suggest that the drug could represent a significant risk to the baby.The baby should be monitored carefully for excessive sleepiness, and adequate weight gain.
Spectra 75mg Capsule may make you feel dizzy, sleepy, tired, or decrease alertness. If this happens, do not drive.

Spectra 75mg Capsule is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Spectra 75mg Capsule is recommended.However, talk to your doctor if you have any underlying kidney disease.
CAUTION
Spectra 75mg Capsule should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Spectra 75mg Capsule may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Uses of Spectra Capsule
Spectra 75mg Capsule is used in the treatment of depression and insomnia.It is used in patients intolerant of or unresponsive to alternative treatment options for depression.
How to use Spectra Capsule
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Spectra 75mg Capsule may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
How Spectra Capsule works
Spectra 75mg Capsule increases the levels of chemical messengers in the brain that help in regulating the mood and treat depression.
Common Sleepiness, Blurred vision, Increased heart rate, Weight gain, Dry mouth, Orthostatic hypotension (sudden lowering of blood pressure on standing), Constipation, Difficulty in urination.
Expert advice for Spectra Capsule
The main dose should be taken at night as this drug may produce drowsiness or sleepiness. It can take 4 to 6 weeks for Spectra to start working. You should continue the treatment for at least 6 months after you feel better to stop depression from coming back. If your doctor asks you to stop Spectra, you should reduce the dose slowly over 4 weeks. You should not discontinue it abruptly. Avoid driving or operating machinery as it may decrease alertness. Avoid consuming alcohol when taking the Spectra, as it may cause excessive drowsiness and calmness. The addiction/dependence potential of Spectra is very less. It may be extremely dangerous in overdose.

Spectra is a tricyclic antidepressant. It is not a SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor) or a MAOi (monoamine oxidase inhibitor)

No. Spectra is not a habit-forming/addictive or narcotic drug. It might however cause certain withdrawal effects when the treatment is stopped abruptly. Hence, it is advisable to consult your doctor before stopping the treatment
