Your doctor has prescribed X ceff to cure your infection and improve symptoms. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Discontinue X ceff and inform your doctor immediately if you get a rash, itchy skin, swelling of face and mouth, or have difficulty in breathing. Diarrhea may occur as a side effect but should stop when your course is complete. Inform your doctor if it doesn't stop or if you find blood in your stools. If you're on blood thinners, X ceff can interact with your medications and increase your bleeding tendencies.

Cefotaxime does not contain sulfa and is not a penicillin drug. It is a third generation, broad spectrum cephalosporin antibiotic

Yes, cefotaxime can be given with potassium and TPN (total parenteral nutrition)

No, X ceff is not an ototoxic drug when given alone, but when given along with aminoglycoside antibiotics (gentamicin, tobramycin), it may increase ototoxicity

Q. What organisms does X ceff cover?
X ceff is active against Escherichia coli, group A and B streptococci, pseudomonas and staphylococcus bacteria. In some cases, Streptococcus pneumonia may show resistance to the drug. It may not be effective against methicillin- resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).
