Ertalym 1gm Injection is used in serious bacterial infections and prevention of infection after surgery of the colon or rectum.It is used in infections of various body parts like skin and soft tissues, urinary tract, blood, brain and lungs (pneumonia).

Your doctor or nurse will give you this medicine. Kindly do not self administer.

How Ertalym Injection works
Ertalym 1gm Injection is an antibiotic. It kills bacteria by preventing them from forming their own protective covering which is required for their survival in the human body.

Common Nausea, Vomiting, Seizure.

Expert advice for Ertalym Injection

Do not start ertapenem, if you are allergic to ertapenem, or to any of the other ingredients in ertapenem tablets, or other antibiotics such as penicillins, cephalosporins or carbapenems.
Do not take ertapenem, if you have developed diarrhea just before or after taking ertapenem.
Doctor’s advice should be considered in case of patients with following history of disease conditions: kidney disease (especially if you are receiving dialysis treatments), localized tremors, or fits; high blood pressure or other diseases.
Avoid using ertapenem, if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breast-feeding.

Ertalym is not compatible with dextrose 5% injection solution

Ertalym is not a vesicant. However, leakage of the Ertalym solution during injection can cause pain and swelling of the surrounding skin and underlying tissue, as well as skin ulceration.
