Fosforal 3gm Granules is probably safe to use during pregnancy.Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effect on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. Please consult your doctor.
Fosforal 3gm Granules is probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.
Fosforal 3gm Granules may make you feel dizzy, sleepy, tired, or decrease alertness. If this happens, do not drive.
CAUTION
Fosforal 3gm Granules should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Fosforal 3gm Granules may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Use of Fosforal 3gm Granules is not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease.
There is limited information available on the use of Fosforal 3gm Granules in patients with liver disease. Please consult your doctor.

Fosforal 3gm Granules is used in the treatment and prevention of bacterial infections of urinary tract.
How to use Fosforal Granules
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Empty the granules in a glass of water/milk, stir it and consume immediately. Fosforal 3gm Granules is to be taken empty stomach.
How Fosforal Granules works
Fosforal 3gm Granules is an antibiotic. It kills bacteria by preventing them from forming their own protective covering which is required for their survival in the human body. It also reduces bacterial attachment to cells lining the bladder.
Common Abdominal pain, Headache, Diarrhoea.
Expert advice for Fosforal Granules
Dissolve the content of the sachet in a glass of water and take at bedtime 2 hours after meals (after emptying the bladder). Avoid alcohol and caffeinated drinks, and drink plenty of water when taking Fosforal. Diarrhea is a common side effect. Inform your doctor if it does not get better or if you see blood in stools. Symptomatic improvement occurs within 2-3 days of the single dose treatment.
Q. Is Fosfomycin a macrolide/sulfa drug/penicillin?
Fosfomycin is not macrolide/sulfa drug/penicillin. It is phosphonic acid derivative antibiotic
Q. Can you take Fosfomycin with penicillin allergy/ does fosfomycin contain penicillin?
Fosfomycon does not contain penicillin and it can be taken with penicillin allergy
Q. Does Fosforal cover pseudomonas/ klebsiella/ proteus/ group b strep?
Fosforal works against pseudomonas, klebsiella and proteus but not against group b strep.
