Nictal 150mg Tablet IR may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Nictal 150mg Tablet IR is probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.Baby should be monitored for excessive sleepiness and weight gain.
Do not drive unless you are feeling well.Nictal 150mg Tablet IR may make you feel sleepy or dizzy, or may cause blurred vision, lack of muscle coordination, especially when starting treatment or increasing the dose. This may affect your driving ability.
Nictal 150mg Tablet IR should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Nictal 150mg Tablet IR may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

Uses of Nictal Tablet IR
Nictal 150mg Tablet IR is used in the treatment of seizures.
How to use Nictal Tablet IR
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Nictal 150mg Tablet IR may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
How Nictal Tablet IR works
Nictal 150mg Tablet IR is an antiepileptic medication. It controls seizures or fits by decreasing the abnormal and excessive activity of the nerve cells in the brain.
Common Sleepiness, Headache, Nausea, Vomiting, Double vision, Fatigue, Dizziness.

Nictal is safe if used at prescribed doses for the prescribed duration as advised by your doctor

Nictal is not addictive, hence not a narcotic or a controlled substance. However, it is available only in quantity prescribed by your doctor. It is not an opiate, but a drug that is used to prevent the occurrence of fits
Q. Is Nictal like Xanax (alprazolam)?
Xanax (alprazolam) is used to treat anxiety and panic disorders, whereas Nictal is used to prevent the occurrence of fits
Q. Can I take oxcarbazepine with Lamictal (lamotrigine) or Aleve (naproxen) or Tylenol (paracetamol) or Advil (ibuprofen) or Benadryl (diphenhydramine) or Xanax (alprazolam) or tramadol?
Oxcarbazepine can increase the sedative effects of Benadryl (diphenhydramine) or Xanax (alprazolam) or tramadol. Also, tramadol has a propensity to induce fits, which can compromise the effect of oxcarbazepine. Oxcarbazepine and anti-epileptic lamotrigine when used together can increase the risk of side-effects like nausea, somnolence, dizziness and headache. There are no known interactions between oxcarbazepine and Advil (ibuprofen), Aleve (naproxen) or Tylenol (paracetamol). Always inform your doctor if any of these drugs are required to be taken concomitantly by you

Oxcarbazepine is chemically related to carbamazepine. Both are used to treat the same type of seizures. Oxcarbazepine is required in higher doses than carbamazepine. However, there is a lesser risk of liver toxicity and interactions with other concomitant drugs with oxcarbazepine than carbamazepine
Q. Is Nictal a benzodiazepine/ MAOI?
Nictal is neither a benzodiazepine nor a mono-amine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI). It is an anti-epileptic, i.e. it is used to treat fits.
