Ostonat Kit may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Ostonat Kit is probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.If you are taking Ostonat Kit during breastfeeding, monitor baby's blood calcium levels during the first two months.
Do not drive unless you are feeling well.Ostonat Kit is not expected to have any effects but in rare cases, it may cause dizziness, severe muscle, joint and bone pain and eye pain or inflammation. This may affect your ability to drive.
Ostonat Kit is probably safe to use in patients with kidney disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Ostonat Kit may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.

Uses of Alendronic Acid
Alendronic Acid is used in the treatment of osteoporosisThis disease mostly occurs in women after menopause, but can sometimes be seen in men. It can also occur in patients receiving steroids.
How to use Alendronic Acid
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it.
How Ostonat Kit works
Alendronic Acid is a bisphosphonate. It acts by suppressing the activity of osteoclasts, cells that cause the destruction of bone, thereby strengthening the bones and minimizing the risk of fractures.
Common Musculoskeletal (bone, muscle or joint) pain, Headache, Heartburn, Difficulty in swallowing.
Expert advice for Alendronic Acid
Take Alendronic Acid in the morning on an empty stomach with water. Do not eat or drink for 30 minutes after taking Alendronic Acid. Maintain an upright posture for 30 minutes after taking Alendronic Acid. Inform your doctor if you experience pain in jaw, throat, chest, abdomen, hips or thighs. Inform your doctor if you are about to undergo any major dental procedures, as Alendronic Acid may need to be discontinued temporarily.
Q. Is alendronic acid safe/ dangerous/ a biphosphate/ a steroid/ vitamin D?
Alendronic acid belongs to class of medications called bisphosphonates. It is not a steroid or vitamin D. It is safe if used at prescribed doses for the prescribed duration as advised by your doctor

Avoid taking alendronic acid with NSAIDs such as ibuprofen and paracetamol as it increases the gastrointestinal related side effects

Q. Can I take calcium with iron/ does calcium inhibit iron absorption?
No, iron supplement should not be taken with calcium supplements, as they interact to form non-absorbable complexes. They, however, can be taken at interval of 1 to 2 hours between them. Please follow the advice of the doctor regarding its use when indicated together
