Cholecalciferol is a type of fat-soluble vitamin D. It is also known as calciol. It is used in the prevention and treatment of vitamin D deficiency. It helps the body to absorb calcium and phosphorus from the regular diet and food supplements, and helps to build strong bones and teeth. It further helps in the reabsorption of calcium from bone tissue. Cholecalciferol is particularly useful in the treatment of certain bone disorders such as rickets and osteomalacia.
