Sodium diatrizoate is an amino benzoic acid that belongs to the class of medications called contrast medias. It contains iodine through which X-rays are unable to pass like bones in human body thus used as X ray contrast agent to enhance the quality of images.

• Inform your doctor if you are having severe disturbances of liver or kidney function, heart and circulatory disease, advanced cerebral arteriosclerosis (disease of the brain arterioles with thickening of the blood vessel walls), brain conditions and seizures, cerebral spasmodic conditions, stroke history.
• Tell your doctor if you are taking diabetes mellitus treatment or if you have latent hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid gland), multiple myeloma (cancer of blood cells), overproduction of special proteins (paraproteinaemia), a condition in which the muscles become weak and tire easily (myasthenia gravis), high blood pressure caused by a rare tumour of the adrenal gland (pheochromocytoma), pulmonary emphysema (serious lung disease that makes breathing difficult).
• Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or are breastfeeding. 
• Do not take if patient is allergic to sodium diatrizoate, or any of its ingredients.
